Ecommerce
Needless to say, we offer a number of e-commerce solutions to suit most requirements and welcome the opportunity to discsuss them with you. We aim to make sure that your particular requirements are catered for, we don't force 'one size fits all' solutions on clients. Ever.
Ecommerce is a subject far to broad to cover completely here, there is the online shop designed to bring in a few extra pennies for someone working from home through to the enterprise level Ecommerce operation with 200,000 customers, online accounts, order tracking, stock control and so on, we've worked on many.
Some key areas for the smaller Ecommerce operation (especially new ones) to watch include:
Your Terms & Conditions
We see many people lifting terms from other web sites, whilst this is illegal it could also leave you unprotected. E-commerce law and distance selling regulations apply very differently to different businesses. For instance business to business law is different to business to consumer, as are those applying to the sale of goods compared to services, perishables and so on.
Our advice is always to brief a solicitor specialising in e-commerce law and distance selling regulations to ensure that your particular business activity is properly covered and that you are operating legally, in both yours and your customers interests.
Data Protection
In one form or another it is highly likely that you are storing personal information, this may be nothing more than email addresses, however it is highly likely that they are classed as personal information. Register with data protection, it's easy. Here is a good starting point...
Secure Transactions and PCI DSS etc
Once again, you need to ensure that you are operating safely and legally, specialists such as Advent Information Management can advise here, as will your card processing supplier.
Advice on this site is by no means exhaustive, when you are trading online it is YOUR responsibility to ensure that you are operating withint he law.
